This is a new kind of role. It was hard to settle on a title for that reason. Reverse Recruiter might be clearer to some, while simply Agent or Account Exec might have more meaning to others.

It is not a traditional recruiter scenario, whereby applicants are recruited to fill a company role. In this scenario, the recruiter’s role is to recruit businesses that have an open product management role to interview one candidate you represent. That candidate is me, Ken Lonyai.

The selected recruiter will work as an independent contractor for a short duration, uncovering opportunities and directly soliciting hiring companies/managers to consider me for their (qualified) role. It is a person to person relationship methodology that you will employ to uncover opportunities, not a resume submission role. Consider it sort of akin to an agent/talent process.

Expected duration of this engagement is 30-60 days, but it may be shorter or longer based on success.

Compensation is by commission after successful placement at a rate exceeding 11% of the annual base salary paid to me. This paradigm means that companies interested in hiring don’t have to consider the recruitment expense hiring new talent through a recruiter inflicts on their budget.

One other intriguing aspect: I am using this effort as a pilot process as well. There’s some solid indicators that a very small number of management level job seekers are amenable to a process like this rather than the current broken system. In the scale of the market, that tiny fraction is more than enough to sustain a viable market for this service. So this is also a viability test that I may expand to other job seekers and will bring the recruiter along as a part of the team.
